About Me
I have a PhD from the University of Queensland focusing on adolescent-to-mother violence where there was a history of intimate partner violence. The title of my PhD is A Silent Shame: The lived experience of adolescent-to-mother violence where there is a history of intimate partner and family violence. This work has been internationally recognised and uses a feminist stance in data analysis. Findings from my PhD are included in the training on adolescent-to-mother violence.
I also have over 15 years of experience working with women and children who are victim/survivors of domestic and family violence. I have experience conducting risk assessments and helping women and children safety plan. Moreover, I worked from a feminist, trauma-informed and attachment-based framework. I have worked with mothers and children (ages 2 - 18) in a variety of group and family settings. Furthermore, I authored and co-facilitated the ReNew program, which was one of the first group therapy programs in Australia to work with mothers and sons where there was a history of domestic and family violence, and current adolescent-to-mother violence. A book chapter on the ReNew program can be found in the resources section of this site.
I have a passion working with trauma and domestic violence from a feminist, trauma-informed and attachment-based perspective. I believe that women and children can heal and be safe through attachment-based interventions. Below is a list of topics I provide supervision and training on.
